Dear BMPA Members & Partners,
I wanted to share an important update and, more importantly, recognize the leadership, credibility, and impact of BMPA on a national level.
This past Tuesday and Wednesday, I was in Washington, D.C. for six scheduled meetings with Members of Congress, representing both parties, to discuss housing access, equity, and closing the homeownership gap. In every meeting, I proudly referenced BMPA as the leading alliance in the United States doing this work — and that recognition was both acknowledged and respected.
These meetings were conducted through our partnership with the Broker Action Coalition, and through my role as Chairwoman of the Black Homeownership Council, where BMPA’s Executive Leadership Team actively serves, contributes, and helps shape the solutions we are bringing to Washington.
This partnership between BMPA and the Broker Action Coalition is intentional and powerful. Together, we are not just identifying problems — we are bringing Congress solutions.
During my meetings with Members of the Congressional Black Caucus and Republican Members of Congress, there was clear bipartisan agreement around one central truth: The homeownership gap is real, the data is clear — and what has been missing is a plan of action.
That is exactly what we are delivering.
The Closing the Gap White Paper & Playbook, produced through the Black Homeownership Council with the support and leadership of BMPA, was extremely well received. Congressional offices shared that what sets our work apart is that we are offering practical, actionable solutions that can be deployed at both the national and state levels.
Several Members of Congress expressed interest in partnering with us directly, bringing this work to their constituents, and continuing the dialogue beyond Washington. This is confirmation that BMPA’s voice — your voice — is not only being heard but valued.
